TheItalian Open is the most important international event organised by the Italian Golf Federation. It has been played since 1925 and has been part of the DP World Tour European golf circuit since 1972. The 79th edition was held in Rome from 15th to 18th September at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club (Guidonia Montecelio, Rome).

The 80th edition will also be held at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club from 4th to 7th May 2023.

The Italian Open, the most important event of the Rider Cup 2023 Project, will be played under the rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the DP World Tour and local rules issued by the competition committee.

COMPETITION FORMULA: 156 competitors will play 72 holes, 18 per day. After the first two rounds, the top 65 players (and any whom have tied 65th place) will play in the final. The total prize money is $3.250.000,00.
